Biography

On Chandrila, Kylo Ren was born Ben Solo to Han Solo and Leia Skywalker Organa Solo. Due to his exceptional force abilities from an early age, Kylo Ren's parents enrolled him in Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy for training. As a trainee under Skywalker, Solo immediately demonstrated the strength inherited from his lineage and emerged as the most formidable and promising young Jedi within the ranks of the newly formed Jedi Order. Everything was going well for Ben during his training until Luke Skywalker saw Ben slip over to the dark side. Ben awoke in time to defend himself from his onslaught. He became the Sith Lord Kylo Ren and destroyed the Jedi Academy out of insane wrath.

Ren's primary objective was to carry on Vadar's legacy and eliminate any remaining Jedi. Ren established the First Order with his master, Snoke. Constructed from the ruins of the Empire, the First Order was dedicated to destroying the New Republic in all of its splendor.

Ren's true goal was to destroy every Jedi, even though his mission was to fight for the first order. He searched for Lor San Tekka, a space scout who was said to know Luke Skywalker's whereabouts. Ren killed Tekka after discovering him on Jakku, but not before Tekka gave the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron a portion of the star chart. After that, Kylo Ren set out to find Poe, but when he did, he discovered that the map had been stored in the memory banks of BB-8, an astrogech on Jakku. Before leaving for Jakku, Ren receives a warning from Snoke about a forced awakening and that his apprentice will have to endure a trial when he eventually confronts his father. Despite his pledge of loyalty to Snoke, Kylo found the girl Rey he had captured on Jakku intriguing. She possessed strong and raw force talents, and there appeared to be a secret bond between her and Ren.

Eventually, on a Starkiller base, Kylo confronted his father, Han Solo, and instantly killed him. He believed that by severing all of his ties to the light side of the force, this act would offer him peace, but in reality, it simply worsened his internal turmoil. Rey saved Ren's life in a lightsaber duel by outwitting him while he was weaker.

Snoke thought Ren was overly sentimental and weak after his setback. As a test, he dispatched Ren on an additional mission. When the time came, he was supposed to destroy Leia Organa's Resistance flagship, but he could not shoot his mother.

Ren was becoming more and more connected to Rey throughout this time. She had agreed to forgo her training and accompany Kylo on his ship while she was away on Ahch-To, where she received instruction from Luke Skywalker. Because Snoke desired this, he kidnapped Rey and gave Kylo the command to kill him and destroy all of his belongings. Instead of taking Rey's life, he used the Force to awaken Luke's lightsaber and defeat his Snoke. Still, this failed to win Rey over. She left his ship, refusing to go with him. Ren assumed the Supreme Leader of the First Order upon Snoke's death.

Next, Kylo took the lead in attacking the Resistance's Crait hideaway. He faced Luke Skywalker there. After cutting through Luke with his blade, Kylo realized he had been tricked into fighting a Force projection to divert attention while the resistance managed to get away.

Ren's standing as Supreme Leader was questioned when Emperor Palpatine reappeared. Palpatine disclosed that he had spent his entire life manipulating Kylo and creating Snoke. If Kylo killed Rey, he would grant Kylo dominion over the whole galaxy. Rey and Kylo have a closer bond than before. She refused to help him destroy Palpatine even though he implored her to.

Kylo approached Rey on the wreckage of the Death Star on Kef Bir, but he was sidetracked by his mother's Force-related message. Rey used his lightsaber to attack Kylo while he was preoccupied, but he was left stranded on Kef Bir after being healed by the Force. Then Kylo saw Han in a vision, telling his son he loved him. Kylo transformed into Ben Solo and threw his Sith lightsaber into the water.

Ben ran to Exegol and joined Rey in the battle against Palpatine. Rey destroyed the Sith Lord, but the attempt was fatal. Ben offered his life to save her, making a sacrifice inspired by Anakin Skywalker—the man he had always aspired to be. After being redeemed by this generous deed, he entered the Force.

His Lightsaber

Ben Solo built his lightsaber while studying under his uncle, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, as a Padawan. Light blue was the color of his first lightsaber. He made his Sith saber with the identical hilt and kyber crystal after he turned to the darkside. He bled the crystal with the black side, but as he did so, it cracked, turning red-yellow and extremely unstable. He installed vents on either side to channel the dangerously high power pouring from the damaged crystal, diverting the excess heat and creating Quillion blades.

Lightsaber Form

Kylo Ren did not employ an official canon lightsaber form. Fans surmise that he uses a mix of forms 5 and 6 based on analyzing his motions. Ren's form 5 fundamentals are evident since he trained under Luke Skywalker, who employed form 5, but he also employ. However,techniques entail using force to push or pull opponents away.
