Creating The Perfect Lightsaber Sounds of Battle
You may have a lot to say, but does your saber match?
Our Obsidian Soundboards were designed to make your lightsaber sound as realistic and loud as possible, bringing your saber to life. Therefore, it's crucial to make sure you have a sound font that will inspire your supporters and dash your adversaries' dreams.
With the help of our Obsidian launcher, you can fine-tune your saber's sound profile with hundreds of settings. The Obsidian v3 and v4 Soundboards have established the industry standard for bespoke lightsaber sounds.
However, how can the ideal lightsaber noises of combat be produced? How are you going to select your font?
Sith Lightsaber Sound
The Sith's Lightsaber and the Jedi Knights' are constructed very differently, as everyone is aware. The Sith were the first to create the crystals used in the plasma blade's chamber and wield it. Due to their adherence to tradition, the Sith have persisted in making their crystals, which frequently renders them far less sturdy than the Jedi's sophisticated blades. The idle hum becomes more electric and threatening as the energy of the blade crackles.
It was the ideal dark sound font because of the crystal's energy and instability, which caused the hum and swinging noises of the Sith's lightsabers to tend to be deeper, nearly darker sounds. When combined with a Sith's clawed emitter and conventional crimson blade, the saber-to-saber collisions gave a really horrifying element to the conflict. They nearly sounded like the sound of a broken power line or sparking wires.
Ultra-Saber fans will outfit their lightsabers with the darkest sound fonts available, and we've compiled a list of some of our favorites for you.
You can download and upload our classic Sith sound font, the Stygian General font set, the Ancient Saber, and—most notably—the Episode IV Sound Fonts—all of which are included in the Nova-Star set—for free to your Obsidian v3 or v4 sabers.
Jedi Lightsaber Sound
Because a belt-mounted power supply powered the Jedi Knights' early sabers, their blades were far more steady. However, they had a number of drawbacks, including a tether to the power pack and a rapidly depleting and restricted power supply. The Jedi would eventually abandon the outdated "battery" technology in favor of the Sith-developed Superconductor technology. The Jedi eventually built their lightsabers using natural crystals mined from Illum because the Empire had taken control of the great bulk of crystal mines. Compared to the Sith's blades, the natural crystals produced a more steady but frequently weaker sword.
The steady, honorable, unflinching buzz of a Jedi Knight's blades hummed idly. Before blades clashed in battle, there were no noises of electricity cracking or lightsabers clashing. The swing was firm, adding emphasis to the struggle and nearly creating a dialogue. A Jedi's sword would ignite with a smooth, clean electric sound, signaling the beginning of combat.
Sabers wielded by fans of the Bellicose, Guardian, Archon, and Consular have precise and sophisticated sound profiles, and we've gathered the most well-liked ones here as well! Our favorites are Yoda, which is included in the Nova-Star Package, Old Republic Jedi Sound font, and the traditional Obsidian Sound font, which is included with every Obsidian Soundboard we ship.
