Biography:
Although there is more information about Mace Windu in the extended universe, little is known about him prior to his tenure as a Jedi in the official Disney Canon. He was born on the planet Haruun Kal in the year 72 BBY. He was assigned to train with the Jedi at an early age because he showed a strong affinity with the force.
Many people considered Windu to be a highly traditional Jedi. After receiving a promotion to the Jedi council, he worked to uphold the order's traditions and stability. He didn't think Qui Gon Jinn was right when he said the Sith were back until Darth Maul killed the Jedi. Additionally, Windu disregarded Jinn's conviction that Anakin Skywalker was chosen. In addition, even though Qui Gon had remarkable force proficiency, Windu turned down Qui Gon's desire to train Anakin Skywalker because he felt the youngster was too old to start studying the ways of the force. Their early mistrust of Skywalker's abilities hampered their friendship for years.
Chancellor Palpatine received a warning from Windu that the Jedi were insufficient to protect the Republic on their own as the Separatist situation in the galaxy intensified. Because of his traditional upbringing, Windu was oblivious that former Jedi Count Dooku would go so far as to try to kill Senator Padmé Amidala. Windu did, however, finally pay attention to Master Yoda's warning on the dark side's growth and the threat it posed to the galaxy.
Windu was compelled to take action after the Separatist-aligned Geonosins took Obi-Wan, Skywalker, and Padmé prisoner. Accompanied by a Jedi strike force, he journeyed to Geonosis and initiated combat with Dooku's droid army, ultimately reaching their jail. Even though it is evident that Windu was losing, he would not give in. Windu's life was spared by Yoda and the Clone army's arrival, but it was not always a joyful win. The once-peaceful Jedi were now assuming roles as generals and military strategists as the galaxy descended into chaos.
Throughout the battle, Windu's primary function was that of counsel. Making war plans and punishing Jedi who disobeyed orders and jeopardized the security of their leaders and soldiers, he spent the bulk of his time on Coruscant. He was outspoken in his convictions and frequently opposed Chancellor Palpatine's views, which he was starting to doubt. Even though he spent most of the war in the temple, Windu proved to be a strong ally for the Republic when he entered combat. During the Battle to Retake Ryloth, he led a battalion of soldiers to victory. He took personal control of Wat Tambor, the Separatist leader who had been torturing the planet and its people.
Windu angrily objected to Palpatine's desire for Anakin Skywalker to join the Jedi council and act as his envoy within the order. He thought Palpatine would become overly strong as a result. He suggested that the Jedi remove Palpatine from power and seize control of the Senate if he did not resign as head of the Senate following the fall of General Grievous, the last Separatist leader.
He sensed that the Jedi's future was in danger after discovering that Chancellor Palpatine was the Sith lord Darth Sidious and made plans to have him arrested. As it appeared that Windu had defeated the Sith Lord, Anakin counterattacked, severing Windu's arm and sparing Sidious. Seizing the chance, Sidious unleashed a force lightning blow on Windu, causing him to plunge to his death and end the remarkable Jedi life.
Lightsaber:
The most recognizable aspect of Mace Windu is his purple lightsaber. With a lightsaber that hue, he is the only character in the Star Wars canon to wield one. The saber is similar to all others except for its eye-catching color.
Fighting Style:
Mace Windu employed a Form VII variant known as Vaapad. Vaapad is a way of life that is more than just a fighting method. Its users are supposed to love a good fight and have to savor the victory. They feed off their opponents' fury to intensify their conflict. Because of its innate wrath, Vaapad is the closest Jedi fighting style to the dark side. It concentrates on close-quarters, forceful attacks and calls for a constant force flow.
